Roberta Maria Baldini, Esq., President
Roberta joined the High & Mighty board in 2018 and has shown great dedication to her position ever since. She recently retired from her job as the Assistant Executive Director of the NYC Campaign Finance Board. Much of her legal career was as an International War Crimes Prosecutor for the United Nations in both Rwanda and the former Yugoslavia and then as Chief of Investigations at UN Headquarters. Prior to her UN days, she was a Bronx Assistant District Attorney in the Domestic Violence/Sex Crimes Bureau. Roberta is also a knowledgeable horsewoman and has been riding for 13 years. She learned to ride while living and working in Kosovo. Each weekend she’d drive hours to Macedonia to work with a Serbian jumping coach. A true international experience. Roberta has been in Columbia County for more than 20 years where she continues to ride and enjoy the area’s beauty. She is a keen organic gardener, still enjoys riding, and loves to explore new things. Roberta is married to Jep Jonson, a Special Education teacher at Bronx High School of Science in NYC. Together they adopted a rescue dog named Rudy, a very sweet Lab/Hound/Pitbull Mix. Roberta enjoys serving on the board to support our mission of reaching those with special needs and sharing with them the love of horses.

He has a degree in accounting from Lehigh University, where he put himself through college on a football scholarship. He then went on to get his MBA from Fordham University while living and working in NYC. He loves skiing and hiking and the Columbia County community. He is currently the Director of Securities Lending for Bank of America, but his true passion is microbrewery beer and pizza! On Saturdays you will find him at Old Klaverack Brewery, where he is part owner, working his wood-fired pizza oven.
Denise Stier, Public Relations
We welcomed Denise to the board early in 2019 to manage our public relations. Denise is responsible for promoting all of our High & Mighty events by contacting local radio, newspapers, magazines, online sources and other publications. Because her daughter is one of our beloved participants, Denise has a close connection with the High & Mighty mission. She hopes her place on the board will help her to contribute to our mission so that others can have the same experience of inclusion and love that her daughter receives. For the past seventeen years, Denise and her family have owned and operate a convenience store/deli and a deli/catering business in Ulster County. When she is not busy keeping up the High & Mighty public image or assisting with the two family businesses, Denise enjoys spending time with her family, reading and going for walks. Denise is grateful for all she has in life and appreciates the opportunity to serve on the High & Mighty board.
Carol Curran, M.D.
Carol is a long-time member of the High & Mighty board, having joined us in 2016. She is a physician with training and experience in both emergency medicine and palliative care. Currently, Carol works as a hospice medical director. In addition to her medical expertise, Carol brings a great deal of other talent to our organization, including a lovely singing voice that can be heard at our Caroling to the Horses event each year. By serving on the board, Carol knows that she is supporting our participants in gaining a sense of accomplishment and pride in themselves, as well as how to work as a team and learning to value and love our horses. When she is not busy with work, Carol enjoys reading, cooking, exercising, singing and spending time with her family. Her family includes her husband Frank, her three grown children (one of whom has been riding at High & Mighty for nearly 10 years!), one Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever and one three-legged cat.
